Eat Good, Eat Well

Who am I?

This blog is written by Kevin, a graduate student at MIT currently residing in Cambridge, MA.  The best way to talk to him is by email, at “eatgoodeatwell at gmail dot com”

Why this Blog?

The one universal ingredient of life is food.  Everyone eats it, most people enjoy it, and quite a few people are pretty good at producing it.  Food incorporates aspects of both art and science and impacts practically every other field of study.  A hungry child cannot learn effectively.  An overweight population cannot sustain its healthcare costs.  A limited world cannot withstand unlimited consumption.

Yet, despite the wide-ranging and profound importance of food to all people, it is proportionately the topic least well-understood by the layperson.  Despite the vast body of knowledge on cooking technqiues, nutrition, health, and food production, the average person doesn’t think twice when she tosses a conveniently-eye-level box of processed crud into her supermarket cart.  Why is that?  And more importantly, is there anything  that can/should be done to change food culture?

I don’t know the answers to these questions and this blog will propbably not find any great truths on the matter.  But, looking around the internet, there is a clear lack of understanding about some of the basics of what makes great food great.  This blog seeks to be one source of information for the hungry skeptic, who seeks truth, knowledge, and a free lunch.
